Casey Daniel, PhD, MPH
Dr. Casey Daniel is Director of the Masters of Public Health Program and an associate professor at Spring Hill College. Dr. Daniel completed her master’s and doctoral degrees in Public Health at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, followed by a postdoctoral Cancer Prevention Fellowship at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. In addition to teaching, Dr. Daniel has a robust research program. Her work focuses on behavioral epidemiology, cancer prevention, health communication, behavioral intervention design, implementation, and evaluation, mixed methods research, health policy, and reducing health disparities, particularly in rural areas.
Jamie Franco-Zamudio
Jamie Franco-Zamudio earned her Bachelor’s from The Ohio State University and her Master’s and Ph.D. from the University of California at Santa Cruz. She was a Professor at Spring Hill College for twelve years and is currently an Associate Professor at the JFK School of Psychology at National University. She is dedicated to teaching for social justice, developing course content intended to nurture students’ sense of responsibility and encourage advocacy.
Michael Ferry
Michael Ferry is a professor and Chair of the Philosophy Department at Spring Hill College. He completed his PhD in philosophy at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. and worked during that time as a research associate in the Department of Bioethics at the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Ferry worked as a visiting assistant professor at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County before joining the faculty at Spring Hill College.
Deborah Fox, MHS, PhD
Dr Deborah Fox is Director of Health Sciences, Chair of Pre-Professional Advising Committee, and an associate professor at Spring Hill College. Dr Fox completed her master’s degree in health sciences at Louisiana State University (LSU) Medical Center in New Orleans. She completed her doctorate at Louisiana State University (LSU) School of Veterinary Medicine in Baton Rouge. She was a postdoctoral fellow at Emory School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA. Dr Fox’s research focused on the immune response to retroviruses (including HIV) and vaccine development. She has background in infectious disease and prior to graduate school, she worked in a public health hospital microbiology laboratory as a board certified clinical laboratory scientist (ASCP, American Society of Clinical Pathologist).
John R. Bassler, MS
John R. Bassler is a Statistician in the Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) and the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). Mr. Bassler has completed his BS in Mathematics, BS in Industrial Mathematics and Statistics, MS in Biostatistics, at West Virginia University (WVU); and is currently completing his doctoral degree in Biostatistics at UAB. In his short academic career, Mr. Bassler has published 14 scientific papers in respected, peer-reviewed journals; as well as, served in research positions at the Alabama Department of Public Health, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), and numerous clinical trials. Mr. Bassler’s teaching experience span across each stop at WVU and UAB, both undergraduate and graduate courses.
